The underwater experience

The central opening of Jardín del Edén measures several metres across and lets sunlight illuminate the water spectacularly during the middle hours of the day. The result is intensely blue water that contrasts with the black limestone walls.

During the cavern route you visit Corral cenote, with a striking curtain of sunbeams and an underwater forest that will leave you speechless.

The system has zones of different depths that allow diving the same site with different profiles. The main area sits around 8 metres, but some points go beyond 14 metres and are decorated with exceptional geological formations. The cavern zone, accessible only with a certified guide, extends the route beyond natural light.

The wildlife at the cenote is also notable. It is common to see freshwater fish, turtles and occasionally seabirds such as cormorants — something unique in the region that adds an extra layer of excitement to the dive.

Why choose this cenote?

The abundant natural light makes it perfect for photography with any camera, no artificial lighting needed. It is also one of the few cenotes in the Riviera Maya where wildlife adds extra interest to the dive, and it is a perfect cenote for skills training both in its open-water section and in its cavern and cave zones.

💡 Mimi's Tip

The middle hours of the day — between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM — are best for capturing the sunbeam effect. If you prefer a quieter visit, go early in the morning when there are fewer visitors. This cenote receives a large number of swimmers.
