Cenote Chac Mool Playa del Carmen
Chac Mool is possibly the most complete cenote for recreational divers in the Riviera Maya. Its name refers to the Maya water deity, and the system brings together three separate cenotes — Chac Mool, Kukulkan and Little Brother — that can be dived in different combinations, allowing for a varied double-tank cavern experience without changing location.

The underwater experience
The first line at Chac Mool follows a wide gallery with natural light visible through most of the dive. Visibility often exceeds 40 metres, and the effect of sunbeams entering through the opening creates an atmosphere that is especially good for underwater photography. It is a true cavern cenote: natural daylight remains visible, making it accessible for Open Water Divers.
The second line leads into a darker environment with more focused beams of light. The columns of sunlight cutting through the water create outstanding visual compositions. It is the same system, but a completely different experience.
In a single cenote, you can enjoy crystal-clear water, formations, beautiful light entries and hydrogen sulphide clouds. That is why Chac Mool works so well for divers who want a complete cenote experience without long transfers.
