During winter, a seasonal aggregation forms off Playa del Carmen, made up largely of females, including documented pregnant individuals. The factors behind this aggregation are still being studied and there is no single proven explanation.

The required level depends on the planned profile. Some dives can reach roughly 20-24 metres, so we check your certification, recent experience and comfort at depth before confirming the booking.

We offer two diving options: feeding dive and passive observation dive.

What is the difference between feeding and passive observation?

Feeding Dive Option

The feeding option takes place over a sandy bottom and the profile can reach roughly 23 metres, depending on the exact site and conditions.

It is mainly a static dive in the aggregation area off Playa del Carmen. Sharks may come closer than during observation, but sightings are never guaranteed.

The dive begins with a dedicated briefing and follows the protocol for the planned format. The team explains positioning, signals, expected behaviour and what to do if a shark approaches.

If you bring a camera, mention it before the briefing so positioning, lighting and equipment rules can be reviewed with you.

Observation option

The observation option is carried out without feeding. The aim is to watch the sharks with as little intervention as possible while respecting the distance and behaviour explained during the briefing.

Bull shark diving season and availability: November 2026 to March 2027

The 2026-2027 bull shark diving season in Playa del Carmen usually runs from November through March. January and February are often the busiest months, while sightings in November and March can be more variable. Dates and shark encounters cannot be guaranteed.

Is it dangerous to dive with bull sharks?

Bull sharks are wild animals and no wildlife encounter is risk-free. These dives therefore require a dedicated briefing, controlled group positioning and strict adherence to the instructions given by the team running the activity.

What do I need to dive with bull sharks?

We do not set one universal certification level for every trip because the profile can vary. We confirm the required level before booking based on the planned format, your certification and recent experience. Please also tell us the date of your last dive.

How to arrange your bull shark dive

1. Choose your preferred option: observation + reef (2 dives, $3,500 MXN) or feeding (1 dive, $4,000 MXN).
2. Send your dates and diving experience: certification, approximate number of logged dives and date of your last dive.
3. Receive confirmation: we check availability, the planned dive profile, participation requirements and what is included before proceeding.
