What’s included?
On every trip we use complete equipment in good condition: fins, mask, snorkel and a flotation BCD if the activity requires it. Trips are always led by certified guides who look after your safety and your overall experience.
Suitable for Non-Divers
Snorkeling is perfect if you are traveling with non-divers or simply want to add more relaxed water activities to your trip. You only need to know how to swim and feel comfortable in the water.
What do I need for snorkelling?
No certification required — just the ability to swim and a sense of adventure. All equipment is included: mask, snorkel and fins. For the whale shark tour we also provide a life jacket.
Important: biodegradable sunscreen is mandatory for cenote snorkelling and whale shark tours. Conventional sunscreen is banned to protect the marine ecosystem and the cenotes.

Whale shark snorkelling — The most requested experience
The whale shark (Rhincodon typus) is the largest fish on the planet and swimming alongside one is one of the most impactful experiences in nature tourism. The Riviera Maya hosts every summer — from May to September — one of the world's largest concentrations of these animals, drawn by spawning sailfish eggs.
The activity takes place in snorkel, not scuba diving, making it accessible to anyone who can swim. The trip departs from Cancún by speedboat. You enter the water in groups of a maximum of 8 people with the guide and each turn lasts between 20 and 30 minutes. Cenote snorkelling — Freshwater and spectacular light
The cenotes of the Riviera Maya are accessible by snorkel at any level. The water is fresh, at a constant 25°C and with visibility of 30-40 metres — a very different experience from open-water snorkelling. The stalactite formations and sunlight effects create a unique atmosphere that does not exist anywhere else on the planet.
For those travelling with non-divers — families, couples or mixed groups — cenote snorkelling is the best option for everyone to experience something special underwater without any certification. Check also our excursions page for groups with different levels and activities.
What to bring snorkelling
- Swimwear or lycra rash guard. For whale shark tours, only mineral biodegradable sunscreen or lycra is allowed — no chemical sunscreens in the water.
- Biodegradable sunscreen. Mandatory for any activity in cenotes or with protected marine wildlife.
- Underwater camera or phone housing. Caribbean and cenote visibility makes for perfect images with minimal effort.
- Your own mask and snorkel (optional). We provide equipment, but your own gear makes the experience more comfortable.
